College Adonai Classroom Construction
At EDV, we’ve made putting kids back in school a top priority by building transitional classrooms and providing scholarships. At College Adonai, we’ll be continuing this push for education by building nine classrooms and a computer lab.
- Build nine classrooms
- Rebuild security wall
- Rebuild Computer Room
- Rebuild School Office
The January 2010 earthquake had a particularly devastating effect on education. The disaster left many parents without means to pay for their children’s school fees. As most schools in Haiti are fee paying schools, these children simply do not receive an education. Combined with the wide-spread destruction of classrooms, thousands of children find themselves unable to attend school.
At EDV, we’ve made putting kids back in school a top priority by building transitional classrooms and providing scholarships. At College Adonai, we’ll be continuing this push for education by building 10 classrooms and a computer lab. These transitional classrooms will provide space for more than 150 children to attend school in safety and security, where they now attend classes under tarps.
College Adonai is a particularly high performing school. It is one of few schools in the area which offer computer classes while keeping fees low so that students can attend. We’re excited to help the school build its capacity to educate more children in the years to come.
We hope that the 10 classrooms we’ll construct will only be the start. In the future, we’d like to rebuild the school’s security wall. That security wall would also provide safe space for an additional 14 classrooms.
Support this project:
We’ve started by constructing the first five of the 10 planned classrooms, but we do not have sufficient funding to complete all planned works. Please give what you can to support this excellent school and put Haitian children back in class.
