Changing the lives of survivors and volunteers worldwide
EDV in Haiti
Between June 2010 and December 2011, EDV welcomed 190 volunteers from 18 counties. The age of those volunteers ranged from 18 to 69. We welcomed volunteers from as far afield as Indonesia and as close to home as Port au Prince.
Those volunteers were supported by more than 1,000 donors who gave in excess of £140,000.
Together, the hard work of our volunteers and the generosity of our donors allowed us to complete 20 projects which directly affected the lives of 3,242 survivors.
Because our volunteers all covered their living expenses, EDV was free to use 97% of charitable donations on project costs – not on wasteful overheads.
While EDV’s international volunteers are no longer working in Haiti, our Scholarship and English programmes will continue. These programmes will help hundreds of Haitian students – both children and adults – gain essential skills over the next five years.
You can read about everything that EDV accomplished in our End of Haiti Report. Should you still have questions about EDV’s work in Haiti, feel free to contact us.
Our video thanks a few of our most generous donors and our long-term volunteers. If you don’t see your name, don’t worry – we haven’t forgotten you.
Thanks so much to all our donors as well as our volunteers.
