EDV Wins £20,000 Grahame Maher Award

We’re delighted to announce that EDV's Executive Director, Andy Chaggar, has been named as a Grahame Maher Award winner by the Vodafone Foundation. This £20,000 will give us the funding we need to launch operations in the Philippines in early 2013.

The Grahame Maher Award was available only to past winners of Vodafone's World of Difference programme and with only 10 awards up for grabs by all previous worldwide winners, the competition was fierce.

We’ll use this award to launch a new type of EDV deployment– investing in vulnerable communities to reduce their risk of disaster. We’ll begin operations in the Philippines in early 2013.

The Philippines is one of the world’s most disaster prone countries, and, as illustrated by the recent devastating impact of Typhoon Bopha, there's a huge need for a proactive approach to disaster.

We'll release details of the work we're planning over the next few weeks, so keep checking back. If you want to be kept up to date with our activities in the Philippines – including volunteering opportunities - please register your interest here.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the Vodafone Foundation for choosing to support EDV once again.

£20,000 is a big number, but with the scale of the projects we’re considering, we’ll need much more to reach our full potential! Please consider making a donation today to support our upcoming work in the Philippines.
