Voices from the Field: Jhonson
Jhonson Alcide became involved with EDV in July 2010 when he brought the needs of local football leagues to our attention. Since then, Jhonson has worked as a translator for EDV, helping us find community groups working for change and facilitating every part of our projects. From buying cement to identifying beneficiaries, our work in Haiti would not be the same without Jhonson’s help.
Since EDV has been in Haiti there has been a lot of improvements in the area where I stay and where EDV stays, especially in construction, education, sport, art, and health. [EDV] helps a lot of community [groups] bring improvements.
There’s a lot of kids without their parents who didn’t have no hope to send them to school. Now their parents are satisfied because EDV helps them, and that gives them hope.
A lot of grown students who can’t continue staying in school now are the focus of the English school EDV has. A lot of kids were sick at a couple of orphanages. EDV give them health care and fixed the orphanage. A lot of schools were damaged by the earthquake, we been fixing them back up.
If EDV wasn’t here in Haiti, there’s a lot what of been staying the same. A lot of people wouldn’t have hope.
It’s amazing how they work, because they don’t give up and no matter what the situation they find a solution. Our part of Haiti is blessed because we have EDV. That’s why we pray for EDV’s safety all the time. They are helping us. May the lord protect EDV and bless everybody involved.
Thank you
