Changing the lives of survivors and volunteers worldwide
Week 2: Computer Training
During our second week, we pursued a more ambitious schedule of an Internet training led by Canadian volunteer Arndell LeBlenc and then discussion of a community gardening project.
The initial goals of the computer training were to develop the students’ ability to access information on the Internet that might be useful to them, but the hour and a half workshop went far beyond what we had anticipated.
With Arndell’s help, the students set up their own website using WordPress and discussed the importance of telling their story through blogging. They’re continuing to develop their website, so stay tuned.
The computer training over, the students brought to the table their ideas for a possible future community garden, discussing what grows well in Haiti, what they’ would like to grow, and how the students would like to be involved in the process.
