Week 3: Health Training

After several weeks of great activities with the students, this week we pursued a comprehensive health training in which students and community members learned about basic first aid. The training also covered fifteen things any Haitian can do today to improve their health.

During our training, more than 25 students and community members learned first aid essentials like how to check for a pulse, what to do in the event of severe bleeding, how to move an unconscious person without risking spinal cord injury, and what to do if a child or adult is choking.

This interactive training involved demonstrations and engaged the students to volunteer and show what they’d learned. Many students have since requested that we do further trainings at their schools and churches.

The training was provided by several extraordinary international volunteers. They backed up the two hour workshop with information sheets which they created. We’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks to those volunteers on behalf of everyone who benefited from the training. You can check out the english versions of those health training sheets here and here.
