One of the biggest hurdles to holding community activities in our area has been the lack of public spaces. In response to the pressing need for a community meeting place, we’ve designed and are putting the finishing touches on a semi-permanent, multi use structure dubbed “the community classroom”.
As well as being used by us to run our English classes and other community trainings, the space will be used as a small church and a meeting place for the vibrant civil society in our area when they want to hold meetings and events.
We’re looking forward not only to having a community location for our own events but to seeing what the local residents do with the space. This will be the first time community has had any kind of a public space.
